You build your case based on facts derived from inquiry and witness testimony. With truth as an essential element for success, you need to know how to get the facts. Don't let fear, lies or omissions sabotage your case and reputation. Read the signs, so you get the whole truth and nothing but the truth during discovery and interviews. When good people lie, their bodies deceive them. Look for the telltale signs of deception and body language; the stress of litigation or the courtroom setting are ideal circumstances where body language becomes more readable. Don't have your head down, keep it up and watch for the clues.

Michael McCormack is a senior manager in the Investigative and Forensic Service line of MNP LLP. He is responsible for investigations across Canada. He works with First Nations, corporations, public organizations on employee misconduct, risk assessments, due diligence and harassment cases. Mike is a graduate of Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law. Mike is designated as a Certified Forensic Investigator. Before joining MNP, Mike served for 24 years at the Ottawa Police Service. He has experience investigating complex international financial crimes including a variety of fraud schemes, money laundering and proceeds of crime offences.
Mike was in charge of the Integrated Payment Team at the Ottawa Police and was responsible for the direction and investigation of payment card offences and large scale identity theft offences. Mike was designated by the Ontario Court as an expert in the identification of fraudulent payment cards and identification of fraud schemes. Mike served as the Anti-Organized Crime Coordinator for the European Union Police Mission in Bosnia and is experienced in dealing with international and national law enforcement agencies. Mike was seconded to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Integrated Proceeds of Crime unit where he served as a team leader and manager. |
